With the blessings of The Gurus and God, I took a pledge for setting up of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University on the occasion of commemoration of the 400th anniversary, in the year 2004 CE, of the compilation of Sri Adi (Guru) Granth Sahib, by the fifth Prophet of Sikh religion, Guru Arjan Dev ji ,and the installation of the holy Granth by the Guru in Harminder Sahib, at Sri Amritsar Sahib.

While celebrating the 300th anniversary, in 2008 CE, of the annointment of the sacred Granth, by Guru Gobind Singh as the eternal Guru –Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Scripture-we got a Bill passed from Punjab Vidhan Sabha, and the University came to be established under Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Act (20/2008)

Sri Guru Granth Sahib, with its universal message for humanity as a whole is not simply the Scripture of a single community, or a single region or country, but is ,in a sense, the Scripture of Humanity

The University would partake of the essential values of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib: fundamental rights, civil liberties, religious freedom, social equality, economic justice and co-equal participation of all communities, all peoples, in democratic polity, an equitable World Order, and redumption of man, society and state. These values would be the inspiring spirit of this Institution .This is my effort, my hope, my aspiration, and ,above all, my prayer to the Almigity (Waheguru)
