Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering

Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is the engineering specialization focused on the principle and operation of measuring instruments, which are used in design and configuration of automated systems in electrical, electronics, and telecom, mechanical, chemical and process control & pneumatic industry.  Electronics & Instrumentation Engineer works for improving efficiency, productivity, reliability, safety and stability in industry. This five year integrated course in Electronics & Instrumentation engineering covers the area in electrical, electronics, instrumentation & control and communication engineering. Course structure covers subjects like Analytical Instrumentation, which deals with sophisticated instruments used in R&D for Nanotechnology and Biotechnology. To meet the demand in telecom industry for high speed data transfer, optical fibers & Laser Technology are included in the course. For Instrumentation engineer to work in Process control industry, Distributed control system &Programmable logic controller are covered under the syllabi. To bring awareness among the society about water& air pollutions and effect of pesticides on soil, subject of Environmental Instrumentation has been included in the course. Industry-oriented approach has been adopted in the course structure with industrial training. In the final semester there will be dissertation/thesis work based on R&D activities in the department or in collaboration with CSIR labs/ National labs/Universities or other similar organizations.
